Caetano Veloso x Beck Hansen: Pt. 1




Caetano Veloso is one of the central figures of Brazilian music and a leader of the Tropicalia movement. His music spans over 4 decades with a body of work that stands along side that of the best songwriters of the era. We met and performed together in the mid–90’s during one of his rare tours in the States. I spoke with him last year about music, touring and Tropicalia. Here is part one of that conversation. –Beck

Beck Performs at MOCA

Beck performed on stage for the first time in almost 2 years this past weekend at the Museum Of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles for an event created by artist Doug Aitken. He shared the stage with Caetano Veloso and Devendra Banhart playing a four song set including The Golden Age, Maria Bethania and At The Hop accompanied by a string quartet. Beck also participated in a performance piece by Doug Aitken entitled “WE” which included farm auctioneers, drummers, the LA Gospel Choir and a professional bull whip artist.
