Beck, loved the interview, I have been on a Tom Waits kick for about the last week. The questions you asked were really good, he seems like an awesome dude. I have most of your music, too, very good.
You were also great in "The Life and Times of Allen Ginsberg."
Rock and roll.

This interview made me happy after a sad day.

I love the part about playing through guitar amps or without anything.
It's something I've been thinking in my head for a while.

In the Luddite part of my head, for years, I have been trying to compose a hip-hop song called "What happens to your music when the power goes out." Horribly snotty and stupid.

I have this weird fascination with what is authentically human in music. Things made by hand payed to the level of voices.

Sometimes it makes me hate electric or electronic anything (and shopping at department stores). I think it's one of the reasons I haven't been a fan of your (Beck's) music for most of your career. Because I wanted to hear hearts and guts and "authenticity".

At the same time I love the Bee Gees and that Star Wars disco album. I really like most anything but Auto-Tune.

But Looking at what you are doing with this site, I just want to thank you for sharing all of this. Because I think I finally understand. It's fun and smart and silly and serious and poetic and often it makes you want to dance.

I am now convinced. It took me like 16 years, but I am on-board and love what you do. How's that for turning my day around (a little bit).

Cheered up in Boston.

“What’s wrong with these tunes? We’ve got plenty of good tunes lying around here. What are you making new songs for? We’ve got cool songs about everything you’re writing about. That is a classic line! I'm laughing my head off just thinking of the truth of it. Thanks for creating memorable dialog - even if songs do get forgotten, this internet will contain every undead thing around for ages..
